Step-by-Step Guide to Walkable Communities

The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has released a guidebook designed to help residents, parents, community members and others get involved in making their communities safer for pedestrians. The guidebook includes facts, ideas, and resources to help the general public learn about traffic and urban planning issues that affect pedestrians and help find ways to address these issues and promote pedestrian safety.
