Making the Local Case for Bike/Ped Needs: The National Bicycle & Pedestrian Documentation Project

August 2009 Poll ResultsBusy bike lane...The National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project is dedicated to making the case for bicycle and pedestrian needs by providing tools for local communities to count trail users, bicyclists and pedestrians in action. Counting provides important data and helps evaluate the success of bike/ped programs and policies.

Locally, Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation is partnering with Community Choices and the City of Vancouver Transportation Services to manage the count scheduled for the week of September 7th. Volunteers will be trained as counters. This is Clark County’s second year of participation. Last year, 1000 people were counted at six trail locations. This year, the same six trail locations plus the addition of several bike lanes and sidewalks will be counted. To learn more or to volunteer contact Eric Rosewall at Eric.Rosewall@ci.vancouver.wa.us or
